Tonight (March 18), the 2016 New Year's Performance Season of Jiangsu Province Performing Arts Group's Symphony Concert of Beethoven's Third Symphony will be performed at the Zijing Grand Theater in Nanjing. The famous conductor Yang Lei and Jianli Percussion Ensemble joined as the highlight of the concert, and the exquisite performance gave Nanjing music fans a new visual and auditory experience.

Jianli Percussion Ensemble is one of the representative and influential ensembles in China's percussion music scene. Some people call them the black horses in the music world. The members of the ensemble are composed of senior percussionists from famous domestic symphony orchestras such as China National Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and the People's Liberation Army Band, as well as Central Conservatory of Music percussion professors and talented students. They performed the most representative work of the contemporary American composer Joseph Schumanter, "Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra," with the Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra. The piece is divided into three movements, with a percussion soloist performing nearly thirty percussion instruments, while the percussionists in the ensemble also perform concertos on various instruments, bringing the audience into a sound world full of rhythm, power, and beauty. The second half of the concert is Beethoven's Third Symphony "Heroic."
