The First Chinese Percussion Competition and Jianli Percussion Arts Week

        The "China's First Percussion Music Competition and Jianli Percussion Arts Week", jointly hosted by the China Percussion Music Association, the Shanxi Musicians Association and the Shanxi University School of Music, and hosted by Jianli Percussion Art Center, will be solemnly opened in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province on August 10, 2009.
       In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the teaching level of percussion music in China, the teaching achievements have been fully recognized. In order to enrich percussion music performance works, promote the popularization of percussion music education in China, better cultivate talents and discover talents, improve the comprehensive artistic quality of the majority of players, and actively promote the construction of socialist spiritual civilization, this competition has been held. Shanxi is the earliest birthplace of Chinese drum culture. There has been a legendary myth of Huangdi making drums and "the Great Battle with Yu" since ancient times. In the long river of more than 5,000 years, Shanxi people have written a series of legendary folk drum culture that will be remembered for thousands of years. Shanxi drums are even known as "the most outstanding performance of world percussion music art" and "the first drum in China"! Holding this competition in Taiyuan, Shanxi, the hometown of drums, with its profound percussion music cultural heritage, will undoubtedly provide an excellent competition platform for percussion players from all over the world. At the same time, this activity will also become a cultural highlight of the city of Taiyuan and add a new component to the creation of a diversified theme city for Taiyuan.
       In addition, in order to improve the overall level of percussion music in China and the balanced development of percussion music education, we will invite well-known percussion musicians in China and percussion music educators from various colleges and universities to hold a percussion music seminar during the competition. This activity will undoubtedly have a very important impact and profound significance on China's percussion music industry!

  I. Participants
Drumming teachers and students, professional performing groups of drummers and drum enthusiasts from domestic and foreign colleges and universities can participate.

II. Classification of participating groups
This competition is divided into the marimba group, the jazz drum group and the ethnic percussion group.
MarimbaDivided into:
The junior group was born after September 1, 1992 (including September 1);
The youth group was born after September 1, 1974 (including September 1) --- born on August 31, 1992.
Jazz drumsDivided into:
Children born after September 1, 2001 (including September 1);     
    Children's group born after September 1, 1998 (including September 1) --- born on August 31, 2001;
The Junior Group was born after September 1, 1993 (including September 1) --- August 31, 1998;
The youth group was born after September 1, 1974 (including September 1) and before August 31, 1993.
Traditional Chinese PercussionDivided into:
The junior group was born after September 1, 1992 (including September 1);
The youth group was born after September 1, 1974 (including September 1) and before August 31, 1992.

III. Information for participants
1. The organizer provides regular percussion instruments. If the percussion players participating in the competition need special instruments, please solve them by themselves.
2. The contestants and team leaders can pay for their own round-trip transportation and meals and accommodation during the competition, or they can stay at the hotel designated by the organizing committee [6 minutes walk to the venue]. Accommodation standard: Standard room one: 118 yuan, including breakfast. Standard room two: 88 yuan, excluding breakfast.

IV. Contest songs and competition methods:
The competition is divided into the preliminary round, the second round and the final round.
Preliminary round:
Marimba group contestants must play two of the preliminary songs stipulated by the organizing committee of this group;
Jazz drum group participants must perform one of the preliminary competition songs specified by the organizing committee and one of the Snare Drum songs (both sight-reading and score reading are allowed).
National drum group contestants must play one of the preliminary competition songs stipulated by the organizing committee.
Replay:
Jazz drum group and ethnic drum group players must play one of the re-match songs stipulated by the organizing committee;
Marimba group contestants must play two of the group's replays stipulated by the organizing committee.
Final:
The jazz drum group and the ethnic drum group players will perform one self-selected piece (which can be the same as the second round's piece);
Marimba junior group contestants must perform two of the final songs of the group stipulated by the organizing committee.
The players of the Marimba Youth Group will perform one of the final songs of this group stipulated by the Organizing Committee. One self-selected song (can be the same as the song of the second round)
The sheet music and musical accompaniment of the selected songs must be handed over to the staff of the venue on the same day.

V. Scoring items:
The entire process of the competition will be recorded and certified for archival purposes, ensuring fairness, justice, and transparency. Participants are required to adhere to the competition rules set by the conference's review committee and the venue time announcement. In the event of any other unresolved matters or unforeseen circumstances, the organizing committee reserves the right to make final decisions.
This competition provides audio and piano. Participants must bring their own accompaniment CD discs, and only the participating songs can be included in the CD.

VI. Competition fees:
The registration fee for contestants is 280 yuan. If you also register for other categories, an additional 50% registration fee will be charged. Contestants who qualify for the semi-finals will be charged an additional 180 yuan for the judging fee, and contestants who qualify for the finals will be charged an additional 180 yuan for the judging fee. Non-participating contestants can purchase a 360 yuan pass to participate in all activities of the Art Week (excluding seminars).
 
VII. Registration method:
Participants must complete the registration form (A4 paper) in full as required, attach a copy of their ID card or household registration certificate and two 2-inch headshots, and send them by registered mail to the competition office within the specified time, or register at the competition office.

VIII. Competition time and venue:
All players should arrive at the competition office on August 7, 2009 - 9th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day to pick up their competition order numbers. August 10th - 15th is the competition time. IX. Establish prizes and awards:
In this competition, each group will set up one first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes. There will be four excellent performance awards. All participants in the master class performance will receive a master class certificate issued by the Chinese Percussion Music Association.      In order to encourage and reward excellent teachers who have made contributions to the development of professional jazz drum talents and the flourishing study of jazz drums, this group has specially set up the Gardener Award. The prize is a trophy and certificate awarded by the Chinese Percussion Society.   

X. Precautions:
1. Once all contestants sign up for the competition, they indicate that they acknowledge the Rules and Regulations. Therefore, they must abide by all the provisions of the Rules and Regulations.
2. When filling in the registration form, be sure to pay attention to clear handwriting, fill in in upright regular script, and be accurate and correct.
3. Please ensure that all contestants keep their qualifying certificates safe. When participating in the competition, please enter the competition with your own qualifying certificate. Otherwise, you cannot participate in the competition. Contestants should dress neatly when participating in the competition on the field.
4. Minors participating in the competition must be accompanied by their parents. Please ensure that the participants and their parents pay attention to protecting their personal safety. The organizing committee only guarantees the personal safety of the participants during the competition on the field. The personal safety of the participants outside the field is entirely the responsibility of the participants themselves and their accompanying parents.
5. Please keep the vehicles, money and belongings carried by the contestants and accompanying parents safe. If they are lost or damaged, you are responsible for them.
6. The organizing committee holds the broadcasting, television broadcast rights and the rights of use, publication and distribution within the scope of performance of audiovisual products of this invitational competition. The winning contestants are obliged to participate in the public welfare performance activities organized and arranged by the organizing committee.
7. All contestants and parents must abide by the rules of the competition and the discipline of the venue, and obey the work scheduling of the organizing committee and the evaluation results of the jury.
8. If the contestant does not arrive at the venue to participate in the competition for his own reasons at that time, the registration fee will not be refunded.
